Physical Contact Rule Modifications (Box Lacrosse)
Equal Pressure Defined:
- Defensive players may place their stick on an opponent and use equal pressure to prevent the opponent’s movement.
- The defensive player must place the portion of the stick between their hands above the offensive player’s waist and below the offensive player’s shoulder.
- Any stick contact on the back of an opponent is not permitted.
- Extension of the arms to push the stick into an opponent is not permitted.
Place and Push Defined:
- Defensive players may place their stick on an opponent and push them away.
- The defensive player must place the portion of the stick between their hands above the offensive player’s waist and below the offensive player’s shoulder.
- Any stick contact on the back of an opponent is not permitted.
- Violently hitting a stick into an opponent is not permitted.

- Shall follow the Equal Pressure rule.
- Equal Pressure is only allowed on non-ball-carriers within the 24’ dotted line.
- No bodychecking is allowed.
- Any player violently checking another player into the boards may be assessed a boarding penalty.
- Any player (offensive or defensive) who deliberately charges directly at another player may be assessed a charging penalty.
- A defensive player may check an offensive player by placing their stick head on an opposing player’s stick head.
